Floor

Shed floor framing.
  • 2 – 2×6 (pressure treated) – 8ft.
  • 7 – 2×6 (pressure Treated) – 7ft. 9in.

Floor joist are 16in. on center.

Use 3 1/2in. nails to assemble.


Square the floor frame by measuring diagonally until both sides measure the same.


Shed framing 4x4 skids.
  • 2 – 4×4 (pressure-treated) – 10ft.

Attach the 4×4 skids to the frame using 3 1/2in. nails.


Shed foundation.
  • 2 – 3/4in. tongue and groove plywood – 4ft. x 8ft. sheet

Screw 2in. deck screws through the floor deck and into the floor frame.


Walls

Front and back wall framing.

Front and Back Wall Frame:

  • 4 – 2×4 – 8ft.
  • 22 – 2×4 – 7ft. 6in.
  • 2 – 2×4 – 7ft. 5in.

Wall studs are 16in. on center, assemble the wall frame using 3 1/2in. nails.

Door Framing:

Right and Left Wall Frame

  • 4 – 2×4 – 7ft. 5in.
  • 14 – 2×4 – 7ft. 6in.
  • 2 – 2×4 – 8ft.

Frame the right and left wall frame as shown on drawing above. Use 3 1/2in. nails to assemble.

Raise and secure wall frames using 3 1/2in. nails.


Truss/Rafters

  • 14 – 2×4 – 5ft. 2 1/2in. (26.5-degree angle cut on one end)
  • 7 – 2×4 – 8ft. (63.5-degree angle cut on both ends)

Make gussets out of 1/2in. plywood and assemble truss using 2in. nails.

Install roof truss 16in. O.C. using 3 1/2in. nails.


Siding

DIY 8x8 gable shed, t1-11 exterior siding.
  • 10 – t1-11 exterior siding – 4ft.x8ft. sheet (cut to size)

Cut and install the t1-11 exterior siding using 1 1/2in. finishing nails.


Roof

2x4 outriggers
  • 12 – 2×4 – 21 3/4in.

Notch truss and siding as shown on drawing above.

Install outriggers using 3 1/2in. nails.

  • 4 – 2×4 – 5ft. 2 1/2in. (26.5-degree angle cut on one end)

Install the 2×4 roof trim using 3in. finishing nails.


2x4 blocking
  • 2 – 2×4 – 8ft. (cut to size)

Cut 2×4’s to size and install between the roof truss using 3 1/2in. nails.


top siding

Cut t1-11 exterior siding to size and install between roof truss using 1 1/2in. finishing nails.


DIY 8x8 gable shed, 1/2-in. plywood roof deck.
  • 4 – 1/2in. plywood – 4ft.x8ft. sheet (cut to size)

Measure, cut, and install 1/2in. plywood for the roof deck using 1 1/2in. nails.


DIY 8x8 gable shed, roof, shingles, drip edge.

Install roofing felt, drip edge, and shingles.


Trim

DIY 8x8 gable shed, corner trim.
  • 4 – 1×4 – 8ft. (cut to size)
  • 4 – 1×4 -10ft. (cut to size)

Cut to size 1×4’s for the corner trim, install using 1 1/2in. finishing nails.


Door
