6x6 post beam installation details.

Cut four 6×6’s to 8ft. long.

Install to a 12ft.x16ft. area as shown in drawing above.

Measure and make sure the area is squared.

Secure post with 6×6 post base.


Front and back 2x8 rafter end cutting details.

Cut four 2×8’s to 18ft. long.

Cut the ends of the boards as shown on drawing above.

Install the four 18ft. 2×8 boards to the front and back as shown on drawing above.

Use clamps to hold boards in place, drill holes through post and boards, and secure with 9in. carriage bolts.


Side beam support rafter end cutting details.

Cut four 2×6’s to 14ft. long.

Cut the ends of the boards as shown on drawing above.

Install the four 14ft. 2×6 boards to the sides as shown on drawing above.

Use clamps to hold boards in place, drill holes through post and boards, and secure with 9in. carriage bolts.

Cut nine 2×6’s to 14ft. long.

Cut the ends of the boards as shown on drawing above.

Install the nine 14ft. 2×6 boards as shown on drawing above.

Pre-drill holes and screw 3in. deck screws through the side of the top board and into the bottom boards.


Front and Back Brace

Cut four 2×6’s to 48in. long for the front and back brace.

Cut the 2×6 boards as shown on drawing above.


Side Brace

Cut four 2×6’s to 37-1/2in. long for the side brace.

Cut boards as shown on drawing above.

Pre-drill holes and install the 2×6 corner brace using 3in. deck screws.

Cut fifteen 2×2 to 18ft. long.

Space out boards 12in.

Pre–drill all holes and screw 3in. deck screws through the top of the 2×2’s and into the 2×6 bottom boards.

Apply stain and sealer or paint to protect lumber from the weather.

  10. You said the bluebird house plans were free. And I left my email address several times. But the check out to get my plans apparently is tied to my giving up my address phone number all the other stuff. Am I doing something wrong? I’m pretty sure it said free bluebird house plans on a bunch of things on your site thanks

  13. Great plans, im excited to start the build. I am having a hard time finding lumber in 18 foot lengths. Is that a common length?
