Floor
Floor Frame
- 2 – 2×6 (pressure treated) – 8ft.
- 7 – 2×6 (pressure treated) – 7ft. 9in.
- 3 – 4×4 (pressure treated) – 8ft.
Floor joist are 16in. on center. Use 3-1/2in. nails to assemble. Square the floor frame by measuring diagonally until both sides measure the same.
Floor Deck
- 2 – 3/4in. tongue and groove plywood – 4ft. x 8ft. sheet
Measure and cut the 3/4″ tongue and groove plywood for the floor deck. Screw 2″ deck screws through the floor deck and into the floor frame.
Walls
Front Wall
- 2 – 2×4 – 8ft.
- 7 – 2×4 – 7ft. 4 1/2in.
Wall studs are 24in. on center, assemble the wall frame using 3-1/2in. nails. Frame the door and window, click links below for framing details:
Back Wall
- 2 – 2×4 – 8ft.
- 7 – 2×4 – 6ft. 5/8in.
Wall studs are 24in. on center, assemble the wall frame using 3-1/2in. nails.
Right/Left Wall Frame
- 4 – 2×4 – 7ft. 5in.
- 10 – 2×4 – 6ft. 5/8in.
Frame the right and left wall frame as shown on drawing above. Use 3-1/2in. nails to assemble.
Wall Framing
Raise and secure the wall frames using 3-1/2in. nails.
Rafters
Rafter Details
- 5 – 2×4 – 9ft. 10in.
Cut the top and bottom rafter ends as shown on drawings below.
Rafter Top End
Cut the top rafter end as shown on drawing above.
Rafter Bottom End
Cut the bottom rafter end as shown on drawing above.
Rafter Spacing
Rafters are 24in. on center, install rafters using 3-1/2in. nails.
Roof Blocking and Top Side Wall Studs
- 4 – 2×4 – 8ft. (cut to size)
Measure and cut the top wall studs for the right and left walls to size, notch around rafters and install using 3-1/2in. nails.
Cut 2×4 blocking to size and install between rafters using 3-1/2in. nails.
Siding
Siding Installation
- 8 – t1-11 exterior siding – 4ft. x 8ft. sheet (cut to size)
Measure and cut the t1-11 exterior siding to size. Notch front and back top siding around rafters. Install siding using 1-1/2in. finishing nails.
Roof
Purlins
- 6 – 2×4 – 10ft.
Install the 2×4 purlins as shown on drawing above using 3-1/2in. nails.
2×4 Roof Blocking
- 3 – 2×4 – 8ft. (cut to size)
Measure and cut 2×4 blocking and install between the purlins using 3-1/2in. nails.
Roofing Panels
Install the metal corrugated roofing panels.
Trim
1×4 Trim
- 8 – 1×4 – 10ft. (cut to size)
Measure and cut 1×4’s to size for the shed corner trim and window trim. Install the 1×4 trim using 1-1/2in. finishing nails.

Hello, can you tell me what the pitch of the roof is in this design? That would enable the use of a speed square to mark the rafter cutouts. Also, couldn’t the notches in the rafters be extended a half inch to allow the siding to go under them, rather than cutting the siding around each rafter?
Looks like a 2/12
keep rafter birdsmouth (top plate rest) cut as shallow as possible as shown. place top of siding to meet bottom of the rafters, then cut 2×4 blocks to place between rafters and on top plate and nail in, cut siding in rectangles to fit from top of siding to top edge of rafters and side to side distance is distance between each rafter. notching siding will look sloppy if not done precisely
