Cut four 6×6’s to 8′ long. Install to a 10’x10′ area as shown in illustration above, measure and make sure area is squared. Secure with 6×6 post base.
Cut eight 2×6’s to 12′ long. Cut the ends of the boards as shown on illustration above.
Install four 12′ 2×6 boards to the front and back as shown on illustration above. Use clamps to hold boards in place, drill holes through post and boards, and secure with 9″ carriage bolts.
Install four 12′ 2×6 boards to the sides as shown on illustration above. Use clamps to hold boards in place, drill holes through boards and post, and secure with 9″ carriage bolts.
Cut six 2×6’s to 12′ long. Cut the ends of the boards as shown on illustration above.
Install the six 12′ 2×6 boards as shown on illustration above. Pre-drill holes and screw 3″ deck screws through the side of the top board and into the bottom board.
Front and back brace. Cut four 2×6’s to 4′ long, for the front and back brace. Cut boards as shown on illustration above.
Cut four 2×6’s to 3′ 4 5/16″ long, for the side brace. Cut boards as shown on illustration above.
Pre-drill holes and install the 2×6 corner brace using 3″ deck screws.
Cut thirteen 2×2 to 12′ long. Space out boards 1′. Pre-drill all holes and screw 3″ deck screws through the top of the 2×2’s and into the 2×6 bottom boards.

Where did you find the 2x2x12 slats? They seem to be unavailable in my area. Any recommendations for a substitute?
You can rip 2×4 or 2×6’s to 1 1/2″.
i ripped 2×4 in half and placed the cut side down looks great and worked well
Sounds silly but what do you do if your building this on uneven ground?
I Built this Pergola it was easy and look super love it the instructions are so well done and the material list needed was so amazing love these plans and love the website well done peeps 5 star all the way

How to drill 5/16th holes (to install carriage bolts) STRAIGHT thru 8.5 ‘’ wood?
Buy a drill guide off Amazon or another supplier. Use clamps to secure it while drilling and you’ll get a straight hole. You’ll also need a 12″ long drill bit.
Can the 2 x 2 be placed closer together to add more shade?

What size (width) carriage bolts do you use?
I used 10″ x 1/2″ bolts. But my 2×6 and 6×6 are oversized from a lumber supplier. I bought galvanized ones from BoltDepot with washers, nuts, and lock nuts.

Cannot figure out how to print out the plans for the 10×10 pergola. Cannot find a link anywhere. Help!!
